The image on the top right is of me holding my first child in Dec 1978 with an incubator similar to the one she used in the background. She was born 8 wks early and weighed 4 lbs 12 oz.
The image on the bottom right is of my 3rd child, born in July 1995. He weighed 6 lbs 8 oz, but because he was 4 1/2 wks early and was "grunty", they placed him in an incubator for the first few days of his life.
All four of my children have been preemies. I am so very grateful for the advancement in the treatment of premature infants, and from my post, Coney Island Miracles: Live Infants, it's because of Dr. Martin Couney who charged money for people to see preemies displayed in incubators like the one on the left side of the image.
The question I'm asking for this post is your thoughts on Couney using live premature babies in major fairs and international expositions. Read the post and let me know what you think.
